Things we’re getting excited about

The end of term is fast approaching, exams are finished and the weather is getting better (sort of). But life in the Music department is all but slowing down. As well completing instrumental reports and welcoming new staff to the department, we are busily tidying and creating space for lots of lovely new instruments…

Thanks to MiSST (Music in Secondary Schools Trust) our new Year 7 intake will be following a brand new curriculum in which every student will have their own instrument and learn with others in a classroom environment. We will be working in partnership with Highbury Grove School who have been developing a similar programme over the last few years.

Our Specialist School provision will expand as will our extra-curricular provision, and we will be offering many more performance opportunities over the course of the school year. As well as the usual school concerts and productions there will be joint concerts with Highbury Grove, a lunch time concert series, band nights and even the occasional flash mob. And you won’t have to wait until September for the fun to start – we will be launching our new Year 7 curriculum on Thursday 11th July, when our new intake will take part in music workshops and rehearsals before putting on an afternoon concert.

Cick here from Friday 12th July to see news, photos and videos from our Music Day.
