MiSST 5th Anniversary Concert – London Palladium

Students from Lister participated in the MiSST 5th Anniversary Concert at the London Palladium on Monday 23rd April. The concert brought together 250 young people from ten London schools to perform on the West End stage, and celebrate their amazing progress on their instruments over the last five years.

The full programme can be seen here; Lister students featured in the choir for ‘Oh Fortuna’ and ‘Finlandia’ by Sibelius, and members of the Lister Orchestra joined forces with Frederick Bremer School Orchestra to perform the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.1. Four Lister students – Sonali Chaggar, Faris Qureshi, Mimi Othen and Noah Shoesmith – are also members of the MiSST Saturday School Orchestra so they were very busy on the night, performing a total of 7 times each!

Lister students had to commit to lots of additional rehearsals to be ready for this concert, giving up their Friday evenings and a very sunny Sunday! The hard work was worth it though, with all the performers receiving a well deserved standing ovation at the end of the concert.

The Music in Secondary Schools Trust is supported by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and he was interviewed by ITV News prior to the concert. You can see the clip below – see how many Lister students you can spot!
